After a busy tournament weekend it’s back to fishing as usual. There’s been a few trout being caught on the flats just south of the Homosassa channel using glow or white soft plastics on a red jighead. The other trout bite is in deeper waters west of Homosassa marker #2. Glow, bourbon and watermelon redflake soft plastics jigged close to the bottom in the 10 foot depths will get the bite. The rockpiles in these depths have been getting better with the warming waters for mangrove snappers. Free lined live shrimp is the best bait.
Red fishing has improved with the new moon tides. The keys just inside the outside edge ( if that makes sense ) are the best places to start. It takes a little longer for the incoming tides to funnel into the backcountry but the last hour of the incoming tide is the best bite. Live pinfish or shrimp has been the best bait. Floating grass has made it tough to use artificial baits High incoming tide will be late afternoon this weekend.
