After a big weekend on the Citrus County coastline, things have wound down to a pace that we are known for as being a small town. Redfishing on the incoming tide will be very good this week. September is a month where daytime will start to shorten and water temperatures fall, triggering redfish to start to school on the outside points and keys. The way I approach the intended area to fish is to let the the tide build, as the tide builds the mullet will be the first fish to to move in and then next will be the redfish. Poling your boat is best but if you have a trolling motor use it sparingly so not to chase or interfere the path of the fish to the place they want to be. Once the reds settle in it can be some of the best fishing an angler has ever experienced inshore. I recommend catching a few, keep a few within your limit and leave them without disturbing the spot. One thing that is bad for our fishery is to sit there and sore lip them for the next angler.
