The Neil Blog: I have a following. Not as big as I thought it would be but there are hundreds of people that read this as soon as it goes up. Same people that read all my other stuff basically. I put effort into it, like everything else. The Neil Blog is supposed to be fun and maybe even thought provoking??
The hatred and nonsense of the country: I posted this-
It is a great country. I’ve seen so many valiant things in the past week. I’ve seen some deplorable stuff, along the lines of your post. The current president is making an effort. So many people don’t like him. Who cares if you like someone right now? It is about survival basically. We can survive under this guy. We could survive under the other side’s guy. We are America.
Move on.
Bernie dropped out. That eliminates my entertainment. I was hoping he would be the candidate. Bernie made me laugh.
We will survive. It is going to take a while but we will come through it. Just how many will die? Obviously, it will be a few. I can tell you: I don’t agree with everything. The state of Maryland. You can go fishing if you are trying to keep a fish for home. But, if you are catch and release, you are not allowed to go fishing. My take on it: What’s the difference. I said something about it. A guy defended their ruling. I simply responded: How are the risks any different with someone who keeps a fish versus someone who doesn’t keep a fish? You either keep it open to everyone or you shut it down to everyone. I think their ruling is absolutely stupid. Not everyone agrees with me. But I don’t see any way I could agree with this one.
Similar to 9/11 in some ways, this virus thing has the whole world turned upside down. Put people out of work. It has people absolutely frightened. Checking statistics, about five documented in my zip code. The other surrounding zip codes, roughly the same. Which, I think is good. My gate is closed and locked. I’m spraying everything with bleach. The mail box. The garbage cans. Anything a human is touching, it sits for hours and also gets sprayed.
Firearm sales: Off the charts. Good luck, Nancy and Chuck trying to take them away from Americans. Amusing to me. It all is. The politics. The actions of people.
Limited: Sitting at the house has been interesting. I got things done that needed to be done. Twice. Approaching boredom, I do pretty well in confinement. I expect things will go back to normal someday.
Still, no one has been able to explain the toilet paper thing to me. No one. For me, it’s paper towels. I’m still not out but I would have bought more by now if it wasn’t a problem item. I can wait. I have 1000 rags and towels that do the same thing as a paper towel. What I have left: It will be gone within a week. How long does it take for supply to catch up to demand? Seriously, this is America. Shortages should have lasted ten days.
Fishing: Very spread out. My busy season, chopped up by this. Every out of state client canceled. EVERY single one. Now to me, it is delayed business, not lost business. Every one of them said they will be down here when it is over and want to reschedule the trip. So, whatever.
The fishing we have been doing has been good. It has been an easy time to be a guide. Great trips. The Bailey brothers hammered them this week. I wonder how big a day they would have had if I took them to the spot they caught all the fish at the very beginning of the day. We spent an hour trying snook and redfish, to no avail. Moving them where I told them it would be good: It was strong. Both caught flounder. Both caught very large trout. A bunch of medium sized fat trout were good action. Some miscellaneous species thrown in. Now, a delay until the next trip, which will be three people a little less than two weeks away. My busy season: It’s not busy this year thanks to the global issue.
A very nice donation: Flies for that division by Jeremy Loercher. I sent him pompano flies which he used to catch a bunch of pompano! In return, he tied some great flies for the Classic. The Classic, two weeks away? Postponed. Can’t hold it with our host site closed. It is just not a time to have a tournament so we will wait.
The next trip is judge John and two others. Right on the new moon. That should be a very good day.
I’m still amazed how upset and shocked people are when their dog dies. You are going to live to 80. Your dog: 15 maybe. You should go through it four or five times?? I don’t know. I’m sorry your dog died but I hate to tell you, he lived about as long as you can expect a dog to live. Dogs are more important than other human beings to a lot of people which I find interesting. I used to find it disturbing, now, I don’t care anymore. I am teetering on the edge: My friends who deal with this pet stuff: They are going to find me a dog. I want a lab. Black or yellow, I don’t care. But I am going to have a dog for the first time in my 50 years. I’ve got the house and yard for it. A lab would go along fishing sometimes.
My spelling fetish. Bored is not spelled board. It’s too, not to. It’s lose, not loose. Your? It’s you’re, you moron. I see it every day. It bothers me, people type stuff out and either don’t pay attention or they don’t know: They are improperly using the English language. Perhaps I should just retire from the internets? I give up.
Pet peeve #2: Women who use deplorable language. It just doesn’t sit with me. At all. Inappropriate actions but at the base level, language I don’t even use. It doesn’t settle well with me.
Stimulus checks. $1200 per adult. The Trump haters, shouldn’t they tear up the checks? I mean, they hate the guy so much, make a stand and protest him. Tear up your $1200 check.
Moving forward: Will things start to get better? Now, going anywhere is mostly out of the question. Going fishing is rare. Sitting around the house is the main thing. It is getting pretty boring. This all needs to change.
