On the nearshore rocks the mangrove snapper bite has been very good. I like to be at my favorite structure just as the high tide begins to peak out. If there are snapper you will see them and a few pieces of pinched up shrimp will get the bite going. Use a live shrimp with a 3/0 Owner bait hook threaded through the tip of the tail and turned out of the shrimps legs. Let the bait free line with the current , if the current is running hard I will pinch the end of the tail off of the shrimp then thread it on a 1/8th oz. jighead to get it down deeper. The bite can be very fast and end as quickly as it started when the snapper wise up. I swear I’ve watched snapper swim up and analyze the bait before swimming off. Redfishing continues to be decent on the high tide. Use live pinfish for bait and cast close or under the mangroves. On the points is good catch and release snook fishing using live shrimp or pinfish. Trout fishing is good in the rock grass patches south of the river. Incoming high tide will be late afternoon this weekend.
