Staying flexible has been the ticket to success recently.  Establishing any consistent patterns has been impossible with the varied day-to-day weather. Instead, reading the conditions and adjusting appropriately has been necessary.  Every outing should always begin with a game plan but currently that plan should be considered a loose framework or an outline with room to make adjustments.  Fluctuating water temperatures have been a factor to consider along with extreme winter tides, and wind direction combined with wind velocity. Having multiple spots grouped together in a general vicinity has allowed us to fish more and travel less. Some days we’ve had to hide in the protection of landmasses, while others have allowed us to venture into open parts of the bay.  Either way, there are a few consistent factors.  Shrimp has been our primary bait and our target species have been sheepshead, mangrove snapper, and flounder.
