As usual, the blustery breezes of March kicked in last week, but we still managed to catch some very respectable largemouth bass on the St Johns River near Orlando.  This morning we watched the full set at first light, and found some very respectable bucket mouths feeding on menhaden in some of the deeper bends in the river.  The bite was slow at first and the full moon combined with bluebird skies (high pressure) moved the bait fish into deeper water.  We started the morning at 54 degrees air temperature, and as the day warmed up we found a pattern that worked.  Our success can as we started fishing with 4-inch DOA Shad Tails on Daiichi Copperhead Hooks casting them cross current and letting them drift into the deeper bends.  This bite should continue through April and is best during low light periods.  Be sure ti check our the Gallery for more photos from this week.

As many of you may have heard, there was a major fish kill in the Banana River Lagoon and parts of the Indian River Lagoon this week.  It was a horrendous scene and the kill seems to affected many different species of fish and will have a devastating effect on our inshore estuaries.  The good news is the alga bloom responsible for this die off has remained south of the Kennedy Space Center and Titusville.  We can only pray it doesn’t spread north.
