Inshore:
February continues to bring challenging weather most days with winds and the usual weekly cold fronts. We have been getting one or two days a week that is milder. Water temps are getting back to normal again. It has warmed up this week and we shouldn’t have much more cool weather in front of us.
Tim and his wife, Carol, were out with me on a windy morning. The fish were biting and they caught sheepshead, croakers, trout and snapper to name a few of the species. John, Jim and Mike were out on a beautiful morning with not much wind to bother us. They topped off the day with three slot redfish along with a nice drum. Sheepshead, croakers and snapper rounded out a good day of fishing! Sheepshead continues to be the best bite out there. Look for them along with snapper and drum around most structure in the river. Our redfish have come while fishing docks and mangroves. Croakers have been in deeper water and continue to be good sized. The snook bite has been better at night around the jetties and bridges. Fishing has been very good in spite of battling with the winds.
It’s a good time of year to do maintenance on your equipment. Whether it be the boat, rods, reels or trailer, it is good to take some time and make sure all is in good working order to prepare for the awesome spring fishing that is almost here.
Remember, fishing is not just another hobby….it’s an ADVENTURE!
Thanks and Good Fishing!
