Mosquito Lagoon Trophy Redfish

My week started with an extremely windy day where Rob and his son Bobby Rae opted to fish the St Johns River for largemouth and sunshine bass in stead of getting blown out on the lagoon (Plan “B”) which turned out to be the right move.  Before the day was done both anglers landed a dozed bass each both on fly rod and lures. The St Johns River can be a blast this time of year, which it was.

Glen said he wanted to catch a redfish, well sometimes you have to watch out what you ask for.  80 year old Glen McDaniel and his daughter Julie spent a day on the water aboard Three Quarter Time, and our focus was to put Glen on his first redfish.  The weather was great, the fish were chewing and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer day on the water.  Besides Glen’s redfish, both black drum and sea trout came to the boat.

On my next adventure I was joined by Bill and Loren and again we found good numbers on sea trout and black drum on the flats.  The water levels on the Mosquito Lagoon are dropping out again, but the water remains clear for the most part.

As always, if you need information, have any questions or would like to book a charter, please contact me.

Good luck and good fishing,

Captain Tom Van Horn
