Fished with Ray and Ann on a charter out of Port Canaveral yesterday and the weather and the snook bite were as good as they get. Our plan was to target species Ray and Ann could take home for dinner, so flounder and mangrove snapper were our primary targets but a hefty dose of snook spoiled the plan. I met Ray and Ann at the main ramp at Port Canaveral at 0600, and found hungry snook at our first stop, and we stayed there until our bait ran out. Before it was all said and done, Ray and Ann landed five snook, two five foot sharks and seven fat mangrove snapper which they took hoe for supper.
The bait of choice was mud minnows purchased at Chum It Up Live Bait on Mullet Road in Port Canaveral. It was a great change of pace from fishing the Mosquito Lagoon and it was a hoot spending a day on the water with Ray and Ann. Although we did catch a few shook within and over the slot, all snook were released as snook season is closed until September 1.

Good luck and good fishing,
