Just a quick one this week, been burning the midnight oil, making hay when the sun shines, getting the most out of each day or just bust ‘in ass guiding all month. The best trout bite has been do north of the Bird Rack about 2 miles. There are plenty of short fish and you will have to sort through them to get some keepers. Look for bottom that is broken with black sponges in 6 feet of water. The best bait has been the D.O.A. Deadly Combo with the glow 3” shrimp. As the tide comes in try a MirrOlure LiL’ John in glow with a chartreuse jig head.
The near shore rocks are producing some good spanish mackerel and north is the same around the Spoil Banks. Live free lined shrimp is the best bait. Have a heavy spinning rod prepared for a cobia because they are in the same area.
Red fishing has been tough but on the rocky western facing points there are a few. I find that if you catch a keeper move to the next spot because not much happens after the first redfish bites. Live pinfish is the best bait. This Memorial Day weekend thank our men and women who have served our country and those who are serving now. High incoming tide will be early morning and late evening this weekend. W
