Not much of a change from last weeks report except that we have had some good much needed rain and over cast cool conditions. The snook bite has been very good on the incoming and first part of the outgoing tide. Start just a few keys back from the outside edge on incoming tide with Eppinger Rex Gold Spoons, D.O.A. jerk baits and live shrimp. Redfish will be in the same areas and as I always preach “ look for a big wad of mullet to get the best action”. Most of the time it will be on a point or flat edge of the key with good rocky bottom.
Tarpon are from Mangrove Point south to the Chassahowitzka Channel. As with cobia these are fish that you have to be prepared for when the opportunity presents it’s self. Spinning tackle with 30lb. braid and 60lb. leader will be able to sight cast a small crab or D.O.A. Bait Buster to rolling fish. The near shore rocks are producing big grunts and tasty mangrove snapper. Live shrimp on a chartreuse jig head will get the bite. If the bait makes it to the bottom a angler may catch some flounder!. Incoming tide this weekend will be midday with a new moon. W
