Inshore on the Big Bend in August, anglers can expect to see the first school redfish push though. Generally the full moon is the start but it may be on new moon in August. Big tides will be the determining factor for the reds to move in. Some of the more popular spots for bull reds like the Spoil Banks are the first to see them, but outside keys with hard bottom have some good fishing. The fish will stay for a few days before moving north to the next key. Trout fishing is going to be good in august because of all the rock grass and with the new regulations in place we are starting to reap the benefits. South of the Homosassa River is a good area to catch them and west of Mangrove Point. The scalloping will be at its prime this month because they will be as large as they will get this season, there will be less boaters and crowds at the ramps. Plan your trip on the mid day low tides for the best scallop session. High tide this weekend will be midday.
