The windy conditions on the Big Bend has kept most offshore anglers from heading out for red snapper. The FWC has announced the Fall season for red snapper is the last three weekends in October. The 17-18, 24-25 and Oct.31 Nov 1st being the last. Hopefully this weekend the wind will allow for safe conditions for anglers to get out to put some abundant red snapper in their vessels. In the 30 foot range look for an excellent gag grouper bite using live pinfish. For current regulations on red snapper check out MYFWC.com. On the commercial side of the Big Bend the stone crab season has begun. Local fish house’s will provide the claws for folks who love to eat this sustainable fishery but if you like to get your hands dirty and catch your own, you must register your five traps per person to your fishing license account. Inshore the trout bite has been very good in the 3 to 5 foot range using a popping cork with a glow D.O.A. CAL shad. Trout carcasses make good stone crab trap bait so nothing is wasted. Incoming high tide will be in the morning this weekend.
