We seem to have fallen into a once a week cold front pattern. You can bet the day after the front will be poor fishing, blue bird skies, north east wind and high pressure is the culprit. As the winds subside and the week begins to warm the fishing will get better and usually the best day is the one the day before the front. That’s the day all anglers want to fish but when life gets in the way we fish the days we are given. One method is to fish in the rivers after a front. Rivers provide warmth and shelter for fish and anglers. Live shrimp on the bottom is the best bait for mangrove snappers, black drum, redfish and sheepshead. For casting go with a MirrOlure MirrOdine for trout, snook, jack crevalle and ladyfish. When the days become warmer move out the the creek mouths and bays to catch trout and redfish. As the days warm the shallows will warm also but the fish will always be near a deep water source to ride out the next cold snap. Bays with big patches of rock grass are best for catching trout. I’ve been getting mine on a popping cork and glow jig with a chartreuse jighead. High incoming tide this weekend will be in the afternoon.
