After some tough winds last week, this week looks a lot more usable for us anglers. Getting close to the full moon can make some good incoming tides for great inshore fishing. With good moving water  look for schools of mullet. I was out today and I saw plenty of them on the inside and outside keys. You can see the mullet jumping from a quarter of a mile away. If you see two or three at a time jumping you can bet that’s a great area to fish. Some of the points you can catch a west coast slam at anchor. Snook, trout and redfish is what makes a west coast slam getting them here on the Big Bend is a treat. A MirrOlure lure is a bait that works. I like to use a MirrOlure Provoker, one of my new favorites is pumpkin seed with a chartreuse tail. The DOA glow jerkbait works very well with a chartreuse jig head but for some reason you have to have chartreuse in the mix to get the snooks attention. On the near-shore waters look for the first push of Cobia making their way along our coast. I always carry a heavy spinning rod this time of year pre-rigged just for the chance of a cobia encounter. Being ready and prepared will make you be more successful.  A Lot of times seeing a cobia. you have to be ready to make your presentation in less than 1 minute. Having a rod ready with either an artificial or live bait in a bucket can mean success. Any high profile structure, marker or wreck can have fish around it. High incoming tide will be in the afternoon this Easter Weekend.
