Not much to talk about this week. Hot water, hot air and one thing I’m happy about, but wonder is the lack of tropical systems. One Labor Day I remember we had all the supplies, meat, grill, family, friends all at a home my wife and I lived at on the head waters of the Homosassa River only to experience one of the worst floods since the No Name Storm. Hermine was pretty tough, not a big storm but the direction it punched in to the Big Bend put water in everything from my house to our hunting camp. Fingers crossed we slip by this year with everyone on the Gulf Coast  in good condition. 

 Redfishing has been the best bet. I’ve seen a few small schools bouncing on the outside keys. The way to approach a potential spot holding redfish is to shut  down at least five boat lengths and let the wind or current carry your vessel to the fishing spot. I like to see plenty of mullet flipping as I ease in. Always have a rigged rod because with the fishing pressure we have, the bunch of fish at the spot may high – tail it if the get spooked. My best bait has been cut pinfish. High incoming tide will be in the afternoon this weekend.
