Looking forward to better tides this week with the upcoming full moon. One fish that has been a standard target aboard my vessel is red fish. As of late the low tides have hampered most of my red fishing but with the better incoming high tides I look forward to pursuing some. The better areas have been around Ozello on the inside keys. Look for jumping mullet on rocky points and shorelines to target with live shrimp, pinfish, gold spoons and soft plastics.
The trout bite remains strong on the outside points and near shore flats. On windy days a soft plastic jig under a cork works best. The near shore rocks are holding plenty of spanish mackerel. a few grunts and sheepshead. I’ve also received a few reports from local captains that are catching triple tail on crab trap buoys. Look for incoming high tide around midday this weekend.
