Look forward to great red fishing this month because of the yearly spawning schools of fish. Outside keys on the incoming tide are the best places to look for them. The other great inshore fish to target are snook. Although you can catch them on outside points bigger fish are found near creek mouths and drop offs near channels. My favorite bait to catch them are a glow soft plastic tail and a chartreuse jig head. As the water temps begin to drop near the end of the month look for more snook to move toward our coastal rivers. The season is open now through the end of November and the slot is 28″ to 33″ on the Nature Coast waters. Although one per angler can be harvested ( captains do not count } one keeper is plenty enough to have a diner for four.

Scalloping continues to be excellent of the Citrus county coast, just north and west of marker #6.  Five to 7 foot is the best depth. Scalloping this weekend will be best because of having low tide during the mid part of the day, High incoming tide will be early morning or late evening this weekend,
