A really good cool down this week happened and will help the Nature Coast transition into more fall like fishing conditions. Being around the full moon will bring lower tides then we are use to during summer month’s so be prepared to take care when running to spots that just a month ago were fine on any tide. This weekend fishing is what I will focus on because we are going to be in between tide phase’s. Look for a out going tide most of the day except for very late afternoon. The inshore bite for trout has been around hard bottom near major channels and deep creeks. As I write this report the water temperature in HomosassaBay is 71 degrees. A popping cork with glow soft plastic tail will get the bite.

The nearshore rocks will have some keeper sized gag grouper.  Shallow running plugs will get the bite. Inside the rivers some big tarpon are being caught with dead bait on the the bottom. Trout carcases and mullet are the best baits. I personally have not tried it but I feel there may be some keeper mangrove snapper in the Homosassa River to be caught on live shrimp.  Incoming high tide will be very late evening this weekend.
