Long overdue:   A review of an entire company.    An annual supporter of the Captain Mel Classic, this company is one of the originators of kayak fishing accessories.   For a long time they were the only ones doing it.  If you don’t have any Scotty products, your kayak is probably not set up as good as it could be.     It is worth your time to take a look at everything they have.    They have some exceptional rod holder mounts.   But there are other items that may really make your experience on the water much better.

Be the best:  Fish with the best.   Not limited to kayaks, Scotty products are supremely useful to the powerboat guys.

Scotty has been around since 1952.

From their web site:

“From humble beginnings, Scott Plastics Ltd. has evolved to produce thousands of products under the Scotty Trademark which are sold into the fishing, marine, outdoor and firefighting industries worldwide.

In this time the Scotty trademark has become recognized to mean one thing – product excellence.

The total commitment to quality, fair pricing and unmatched service means our customers everywhere can expect reliability and satisfaction from every product that carries the Scotty name.

Here you will find Scotty products to fit your fishing and boating needs.

From our downriggers, rod holders all the way to safety equipment for your boat.”

The Cup Holder

They have a great assortment of equipment.     Fishing gear.   Clothing.   They also have various safety equipment, including pumps which is something a lot of us can use.   There are things I don’t use that you might like downriggers.   There are things I have had on every kayak I have ever owned like the mounts, the rod holders.   Their cup holders are excellent and they have it set up where you can incorporate them using your track railing or mounting to your boats.   If you are into kayak fishing odds are you are already aware of this company.   One of their items I utilized a great deal over the years:  The rod holder extender.   Do you fly fish?  You need their fly rod holder.

In new products I saw something that may be appealing to people: Clamp mounts.   No accessory rail and no great place to drill, just clamp it on.  If you are soaking a crab trap or using pinfish traps they have line pullers, very helpful mounts if you are doing certain activities.   Other useful items:  Their clips.  I’ve been using Scotty clips for close to 20 years.     They have some other things you could look at.   The bait board attaches to a mount and gives you a flat platform to use.    They have landing nets, gaffs, paddle clips, camera mounts, fish finder mounts, mounting rivets and leashes.  They even have mounts that glue on.   Another from my early days in kayak fishing:  The triple mount rod holder.

They have four dealers in the Tampa Bay area.   Bill Jackson’s, Osprey Bay are the two right in the Pinellas area.   If you were not particularly familiar with Scotty before, you need to be now.     They have stuff you should be using.
