We are into the dead of summer, even though officially, it just started.   Upper Tampa Bay, quite simply, not my first choice.    From what I hear and gather:    Action in the shallows reflects the time of year.    Redfish can be had if you go before sunrise.  Opportunities dwindle as the sun rises.

Bridge action is the best choice.   There are big drum options.   Pompano are not in there yet but will be before the month is over.  The drum, averaging about 50 pounds, no food value but provide a great thrill for someone who has never caught a really big fish.

I will have more detailed UTB reports in October, when I spend more time in this part of the Bay.

As always:    Keep an eye to the sky and be ready for fast forming storms to pop up starting this month.
